The Juanita Sims Doty Foundation Village Impact Project

The Juanita Sims Doty Foundation’s (JSDF) Village Impact VISTA Project (VIP) will identify the needs of children and their families to address the social determinants of health and education in the community. JSDF provides a leadership and character development mentoring program in the Jackson, Canton, Cleveland and Meridian Mississippi Public School Districts. The VIP Project, based in Jackson, MS, will complement and expand our current efforts by ensuring that partner organizations can offer children and their families and villages: health, educational and family engagement services, as well as, ensuring each partner has the volunteers needed to successfully carry out their efforts. The impact of this project can assist families with access to opportunities to eliminate the perpetuation of poverty in the local communities. The goal of the Village Impact Project (VIP) VISTA is to impact more individuals in low income communities to increase the number of children we serve, and to enhance and empower the children's villages made up of parents, families, and other community members. We expect 250-350 children and their families and villages to benefit. The VISTAs will be well trained and equipped with the knowledge and experience to be a successful VISTA Fundraising Developer or Volunteer Recruitment Developer during their service year. The VISTA member's support and service will enhance the overall quality of life for the children and their families and ultimately be the anecdote to poverty related issues.
