Climate Adaptation Analyst VISTA
 
 
 
The City and County of Honolulu’s (“City”) AmeriCorps VISTA Program was established in 2018 to strengthen the city government's efforts to increase community resilience across the island of O'ahu, Hawai‘i. The City VISTA Program embeds VISTA Members in multiple City departments to enhance the capacity of the various departments to respond to the challenges of shocks and stressors like high costs of living, natural disasters, and climate change. In alignment with the VISTA program’s mission, City VISTA Members strive to build capacity, create sustainable solutions, empower communities, and alleviate poverty. The Climate Adaptation Analyst position aims to increase the ability of the City to implement its Climate Adaptation Strategy by recognizing and supporting community partners as community champions of climate adaptation. By developing partnerships communities, the VISTA will help to empower residents, especially in frontline communities, to increase climate resilience in their communities and extend the impact of the City’s climate adaptation programs. The ideal candidate for this position will have strong communication and engagement skills; demonstrate knowledge in climate change impacts particularly for island communities; and have a deep commitment to equity and climate resilience on O'ahu. This year-long position begins August 29, 2022 and is based in on the island of O'ahu in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.

Member Duties : (1) Support development of an implementation framework for the City’s Climate Adaptation Strategy. (2) Support evaluation of implementation data and metrics, and development of reporting structures for Climate Adaptation Strategy. (3) Refine Project Equity Tool and develop training around utilization and adoption for City agencies. (4) Develop new, and increase accessibility of existing, web-based communications resources that educate targeted residents on climate risks and risk reduction strategies that can help prepare residents for climate shocks and stresses.
