Recreation Curriculum Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
The Recreation Curriculum Coordinator VISTA will be an essential member of the team for this local government organization. This person will primarily serve to develop recreation, healthy living and educational components to the Youth programs. The COR Youth programs use local schools, parks, and community centers to deliver recreation programs for youth 6-18 years of age. This VISTA will develop curriculum in recreation, healthy living education including STEAM activities and reading. This will include maintaining relationships with COR recreation administrators and recreation leaders, developing and fine-tuning curriculum, and training staff through site visits, workshops, and training days. The Recreation Curriculum Coordinator VISTA will also develop an after school athletic league component for the Sierra Kids before and after school program. Additionally, they will expand the healthy living, educational and recreation components of other COR Youth and Inclusion programs. The mission of City of Reno, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is to provide youth active, positive, and safe recreational opportunities. The City of Reno provides the Sierra Kids Before and After school program and various summer, winter, and spring break camps to meet the needs of parents and guardians. We are partners in the community with the Children’s Cabinet, TEAM Up, Northern Nevada Food Bank, and the Washoe County School District. The City of Reno is a local government with a population of 248,853.

Member Duties : Develop healthy living, educational, and recreation components to the Youth Programs for the City of Reno, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department (COR); Maintain partnerships with COR administrators and recreation leaders; Develop after-school athletic league component for the before and after school program for fall, winter, and spring; Train staff to teach and implement the healthy living, educational, and recreation components; Expand the healthy living, educational, and recreational components of other COR Youth and Inclusion programs.
