SERCAP - VFC Program Coordinator VISTA
SERCAP’s VFC program has hosted thousands of volunteers and has provided rural communities with project based volunteerism since 1987. VFC is looking to expand their programing to more communities and possibly more states in the southeast region of the country. The VISTA will help VFC reach its goals by creating a scholarship fund for students as well as a new service learning track that will focus on tourism development. The VISTA will also develop a marketing plan for the VFC program to increase visibility and enrollment.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will have an integral role in furthering the development of SERCAP’s Volunteers for Change (VFC) program. Volunteers for Change is an alternative break program that provides service learning opportunities to college and university students year round. VFC currently serves 35 communities in 6 states. In March 2019, VFC placed 360 students in communities who provided service learning opportunities with focus on various topics such as food insecurity, homelessness, poverty, environmental issues, child development, and senior care. The VISTA member will work directly with the Special Projects Manager to create a fund development and marketing plan for the VFC program. In addition, the VISTA member will create a tourism development learning track for the VFC program that will drive economic development in rural areas. With the help of the VISTA member, VFC will have the tools to grow and the ability to serve even more communities through volunteerism.
