CAFN Development and Strategy Associate VISTA
 
 
 
The Wake Food Security and Social Economic Vitality VISTAs work to increase access to food and services for Wake County’s most vulnerable residents. The goal of this project is to support these communities in increasing their quality of life through food access and increasing community resiliency. As partners, we have aligned collective resources including the residents of these communities, to bridge gaps in resources; simultaneously building the capacity of residents who will also collectively benefit the community via their contributions. Capital Area Food Network (CAFN) is a community-led organization of Wake County citizens working together to support, sustain, and improve our local food system with a mission is to cultivate healthy individuals, communities, and economies through vibrant food and farm systems. The CAFN Development and Strategy Associate VISTA will build the organization's capacity through strategic planning, streamlining development, and supporting CAFN Circles.

Member Duties : The Development and Strategy Associate will work to overall build the capacity of a growing food policy council, Capital Area Food Network (CAFN). The VISTA will work with the CAFN Coordinating Circle to create and implement a formal strategic planning process. The VISTA will work with the CAFN Treasurer and Coordinating Circle to build the capacity to raise and leverage funds. Lastly, the VISTA will work with the CAFN Coordinating Circle to build capacity in existing CAFN circles. The VISTA should have skills in communication, writing, public speaking, customer service, problem solving & critical thinking skills, time management & organization, strategic planning and leadership. VISTA should possess a basic understanding of resource development, food councils, racial equity & cultural sensitivity, food systems and food security and be able to work independently and on a team. May require some weekend and evenings.
