JC Housing Authority Resident Engagement
The Jersey City Housing Authority serves over 18,000 low-income residents of Jersey City including public housing residents and Housing Choice Voucher recipients. Included in this demographic are many of Jersey City’s most vulnerable residents including over 2,000 seniors over the age of 65, over 3,300 individuals with disabilities, and nearly 5,000 children under the age of 18. The JCHA currently has two existing social service programs that are funded through HUD: Family Self- Sufficiency (FSS) and Resident Opportunity for Self-Sufficiency (ROSS). Our ROSS and FSS programs help residents meet financial goals and address barriers to economic self-sufficiency and success. The reach of these programs is limited to specific sites and to residents who receive Housing Choice Vouchers and staff are unable to devote time to increased capacity and programming in order to meet the needs of residents and voucher recipients.
