Youth Engagement Coordinator
 
 
 
The Office of Community Engagement and Volunteerism (OCEV) connects with local residents, students, and businesses to align them with community service opportunities central to Jersey City. Through various programs, grants, and initiatives, the OCEV is committed to increasing support to our residents through augmented community engagement, enhancing the experiences of our youth and young adults by exploring innovative community service based programming, and combating local poverty through city-wide volunteerism.

Member Duties : The YEC VISTA will closely with the Mayor’s staff on youth mentoring initiatives and recreation program expansion along with implementing a skills enrichment program. They will further expansion of volunteer opportunities along with workshops on how to engage youth and properly mentor youth volunteers. They will create and implement a survey for young people on volunteerism and programs they want to see. Lastly the VISTA will plan and implement a youth volunteer corps program to tackle quality of life issues in vulnerable communities, assist elderly neighbors in need and worked with other non-profits and service providers to engage more youth.
