Shelter House offers a robust continuum of programs and supports focusing on emergency, stabilization, and long-term interventions in the areas of housing, employment, and mental health recovery. In so doing, we help hundreds of men, women and children each year to overcome difficult barriers in their lives and move beyond homelessness. VISTA members provide crucial and important roles in the organization, and community as a whole, to increase the capacity and breadth of services available to the most vulnerable. Member Duties : The Volunteer Management VISTA will support the recruitment, development & management of Shelter House volunteers & volunteer programming. They'll work to establish the sustainability of our volunteer program with the goal of hiring a full or part-time Volunteer Coordinator. Initiatives intended for this position are to: 1) Develop & formalize existing Shelter House Drop-In Center Services & create an efficient method to accurately document said service interactions (by individual, type and count). The position will require volunteer management to support the services, including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orienting, & training new volunteers. 2) Explore opportunities to implement coordinated entry services at another partner agency. Explore extent of the need by interviewing partner agencies and expected clientele and an analysis of cost. 3) Explore volunteer opportunities in Shelter House’s Development team—particularly in the area of events.
