Statewide Behavioral Health Family Engagement VISTA

This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about the Oregon Health Authority VISTA Partnership Program, please visit: http://healthoregon.org/vista. The Child and Family Behavioral Health Unit in Integrated Health Systems develops policies and administers grants and contracts to meet the mental health and addiction concerns of children aged 0-25, and their families. The goal is to have available, accessible and effective statewide services. The unit strives to increase access to Medicaid, low-cost or free behavioral health services, since earliest intervention is most likely to increase a child’s gain in school and health and employment in adulthood. With access to services and self-help skills, parents are more likely to effectively care for their own children and sustain employment and health for themselves. The VISTA member will be serving with the Behavioral Health Systems Division in Salem, the capital of Oregon. Centrally located in the Willamette Valley, Salem is rich with culture and has easy access hiking and other outdoor adventures in every direction. Within an hour, you can reach mountains, the beaches or big city attractions of Portland. With the innovative public health work happening in Oregon, Salem is wonderful place to explore a future in public health.
