Crook County Health Care Access and Education VISTA
 
 
 
This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. Crook County Health Department is located in Prineville, Oregon which is the only incorporated city in Crook County. We are a rural frontier community an hour from the nearest large city. Crook County Health Department provides clinical services that include reproductive health and communicable disease response; public health preparedness services; Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); Medicaid application assistance; substance use and addictions prevention; mental health promotion and suicide prevention; and chronic disease prevention and self-management. Our services are available to all members of the community, with specific focus on outreach and service to low-income community members. Our department takes pride in being welcoming, trauma-informed and non-judgmental of individual’s life circumstances, in order to provide the highest level of care for all. Member Duties : The VISTA member will join a dynamic team of public health professionals who care deeply about the health and wellbeing of the community, as well as the professional development of the workforce in the field. The VISTA member will lead projects such as systems development and training of staff members in the use of those systems to advance the quality and accessibility of services to the low-income community. The VISTA member will conduct research to inform development and adaptation of health information communication strategies. Additionally, the VISTA member will promote Living Well with Chronic Conditions classes addressing chronic conditions in Crook County, assess program effectiveness, and secure funding to improve program sustainability. To be successful in this position, we are seeking someone who is ideally, Bilingual Spanish & English; an excellent communicator via verbal, written, and visual mediums; and an enthusiastic learner who thrives in a collaborative environment.
