United Way Volunteer Program Developer
 
 
 
The VISTA will serve in collaboration with the Community Impact and Resource Development teams to serve our seven-county footprint in enhancing the corporate-community connection and expanding community partnerships. United Way operates a virtual volunteer resource center, UnitedtoVolunteer.org, as well as engages in constant communication with several donor companies and outside organizations. United Way also serves over 40 nonprofit agencies in the area. The VISTA will build the connection between volunteerism and the companies to promote community engagement by creating a sustainable volunteer management program to enhance the services provided by the non-profits to better assist individuals and families meet their basic needs. The VISTA member will also grow and enhance community partnerships to increase the Capital Region's commitment to community service. Serving at United Way, the VISTA will receive appropriate training and leadership opportunities to strengthen their personal and professional skills, as well as direct engagement with outside partners and community organizations. The VISTA will foster a positive change that strengthens our commitment to the community by directly engaging with those that reside in the Capital Region. By enhancing community programs and services in the Capital Region through volunteerism and community outreach, low-income individuals and families will better meet their most basic needs, assisting them in breaking the cycle of poverty and stigmatization.

Member Duties : The VISTA will serve in collaboration with the Community Impact and Resource Development teams to serve our seven-county footprint in enhancing the corporate-community connection and expanding community partnerships to better assist low-income individuals, families, and communities. VISTA's duties include (a) working with partner agencies in the expansion of their program opportunities by investigation of volunteer efforts, (b) increasing volunteerism, (c) create new resources to support volunteer programs, (d) build and strengthen partnerships between community-based organizations, corporate agencies, and other community partners, (e) develop a volunteer management training program and materials to expand the Capital Region’s use of volunteers, and (f) review and assess the program created.
