19-20 STEM Ecosystem Communications VISTA
 
 
 
STEM West is a community of practice recognized by the STEM Learning Ecosystems Initiative. In partnership with the Afterschool Alliance and the STEM Funders Network, STEM West is embarking on exciting work to expand the amount of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education opportunities offered in diverse learning spaces. These types of opportunities are made more accessible to youth through expanding local partnerships, coordinating community-led STEM activities, and more. The VISTA at STEM West will focus on supporting and expanding high-quality STEM programs beyond the school day by establishing a sustainable communications system. This position is based in Hickory, NC.

Member Duties : Support and expand high-quality STEM programs beyond the school day and to establish a communications system that links existing and potential STEM West ecosystem stakeholders, especially local STEM businesses and K-12. -Update asset map where existing STEM afterschool / out-of-school programs are located as well as other potential supportive STEM programs. -Search out possible grants and partners to increase STEM opportunities in the STEM West service area. - Work with afterschool / out-of-school programs, schools, employers and community-based organizations to develop a partner engagement strategy, and the selection of organizations to become long-term partners.
