Reading Assist Intervention Corps - Reduced Full Time

The RAI Corps serves students inside low-income elementary schools in Delaware Without the RAI Corps, many of these students would not have access to the one-to-one intervention they need to succeed. Many of the students we work with have dyslexia or other reading disorders, or are English Language Learners. You would begin your year of service with five weeks of extensive training alongside fellow Corps members – members who come to us from all across the country – learning our accredited and successful Reading Assist Intervention Program. The RAI Corps is unique in the country for the depth of training and education that each member receives. After training, you will be assigned in small groups to one of our partner schools. Each Corps member is matched with six students in grades 1 through 3. RAI Corps members meet individually with their students on a daily basis while preparing daily lesson plans, meeting regularly with coaches, and recording student progress with a school tracking system. Each Corps member is provided with a professional coach who will observe and support you and your teaching. You are also paired with another Corps member and brought into a community of AmeriCorps members around the state. RAI Corps members often form lifelong bonds and friendships with their service year colleagues. The RAI Corps is organized by Reading Assist Institute, a nonprofit organization in Wilmington, Delaware, in partnership with AmeriCorps. RAI Corps members log 1200 service hours from Mid-August-Mid-June.
