OC STEM Mobile FAB Lab

OC STEM is partnering with both the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine) and the Orange County Department of Education to build and deploy a mobile fabrication space (Mobile FABLab). The mission of the Mobile FABLab is to encourage K-12 students to be “creators” rather than “consumers” of technology. We intend to provide schools and educators with the tools, training, resources and support needed to engage in open-ended experiential learning. The VISTA Member will be integrally involved in every aspect of launching the Mobile FABLab. The first year of the project will focus on building infrastructure, expanding partnerships with key stakeholders and organizing. Their efforts will focus on establishing protocols and procedures for scheduling the Mobile FABLab. In particular, this effort will focus on communities in Santa Ana and Anaheim.o learn more about the Afterschool Alliance’s nationwide VISTA program, and to view our other open positions, please visit: https://www.afterschoolalliance.org/vista.cfm
