Serve New York VISTA 2019: West Side Community Services
 
 
 
Serve New York mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to serve organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions focused on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all, and creating healthy futures for the residents of NY. The goal of Serve New York is to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Serve New York program has partner organizations in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Bath, Ithaca, Geneva, and White Plains. While serving, members receive support from the VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY, Inc. The support includes monthly training, a social network of fellow members, and daily support from VISTA leaders.

Member Duties : West Side Community Services, Inc. has served the Niagara District with youth, family, senior and community services and programs since 1974. The Family Services Coordinator VISTA, serving at will fill a gap in program structure by implementing a program designed for ages zero to five, and their caregivers, who are currently not being directly served by our agency. Responsibilities will include grant writing, fundraising, conducting outreach and marketing about programs and schedules, managing volunteers working in the Center, coordinating scheduling of the space, engaging visitors and creating standard operating procedures, creating rules and regulations, assisting with planning and coordination of quarterly Family Night events, and assisting with planning and coordination of weekly and monthly Family Fun workshops.
