NYC VISTA: DSS/DHS Client Nutrition VISTA
 
 
 
The Office of the Medical Director, under the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) recognizes inequality in all its forms, ascertaining the need for basics of living such as housing, food, healthcare, legal assistance, and child welfare. Our clients cross all boundaries of race, religion, and sexuality. DHS programs target those who need assistance the most: the homeless, those without adequate funds for food, and at-risk youth.

Member Duties : The Office of the Medical Director Client Nutrition VISTA Member will assist DHS’s goal to provide healthy & safe food to the clients and for clients to accept and utilize the meal service provided. When clients enjoy and utilize the meal services provided they are able to save their funds during the stay in transitional housing. The goal of the project is to develop and implement a system to monitor the nutrition programs within DHS and, if needed, develop plans to improve compliance with NYC regulations.
