Families Moving Forward, located in Durham, NC, is a local non-profit organization with a mission to offer a temporary home to families with children in the crisis of homelessness. We work together to help create a path to stability and self-sufficiency through personalized services and ongoing community support. Families Moving Forward provides emergency shelter to 21 families at a time. Families receive case management support, and onsite programming is offered weekly during their stay in the shelter and after they have transitioned into the aftercare program. The VISTA member will work towards the mission of the organization by creating or expanding services offered. The VISTA member will focus on developing systems, communication processes, partnerships and resources to ensure the sustainability and expansion of the programs and services offered to Families Moving Forward’s current and former guests.
