Opportunity Council - VSF - Family Support & Engagement YR2

This Year 2 VISTA position is a partnership between Villa Santa Fe housing complex, Bellingham Public Schools (BPS), and Catholic Housing Services (CHS) with additional support from the Opportunity Council’s Early Learning and Family Services Department. The beneficiaries of this project will be the children, youth and families at Villa Santa Fe apartments, approximately 200 people living with low income. BPS & CHS have been working closely together to serve this population since the facility opened in October of 2016. CHS has helped with linkage to the residents so that BPS could help the residents enter the public school system and access their services. In the summer of 2017 CHS provided space at the facility so that BPS could provide a 6 week summer school program that also offered free breakfast and lunch. Both agencies are excited to expand on these successful beginnings of our partnerships in service to the Villa Santa Fe community.
