Single Stop Marketing and Outreach VISTA - Linn-Benton

As the sixth-largest of Oregon’s 17 community colleges, Linn-Benton Community College plays a critical role in the well-being of both the local and state economy. More than 300 business and industry partners help to ensure its students receive the best in workforce education for today’s high-tech manufacturing environment, as well as critical core transfer courses for students in a variety of disciplines such as medical, biological sciences, engineering, business and more. In 2018, Linn-Benton partnered with Single Stop USA to create a “One Stop Shop” for students to get connected to resources that will help keep them in school. The idea is to have a place where students can go to get screened for multiple government benefits and local community resources, receive assistance in accessing those benefits, and follow up to see if they have in fact received the benefits for which they are eligible. Founded in 2007, Single Stop USA harnesses America's most effective anti-poverty tools to create economic mobility for low-income families and individuals. By utilizing technology to create maximum impact at over 100 sites across 10 states, Single Stop has connected 1 million households with nearly $3 billion in resources and support. Single Stop partners with local organizations and institutions that serve low-income families to provide wraparound services and ensure their clients leverage all the major anti-poverty resources available. Its commitment to assist low-income families in one place at one time has been esteemed by other leaders in the field, earning two White House Social Innovation Fund Awards, acclaim as one of the New York Times' "Big Ideas in Social Change", and making Fast Company’s 2015 list of "The World’s Top Ten Most Innovative Companies in Social Good."
