Maryland MENTOR Marketing and Communications
Maryland MENTOR serves as the leader of quality mentoring efforts across the state. We are positioned to work with local organizations to increase their capacity and effectiveness, while also providing evidence-based trainings and technical assistance. Young people with a mentor are: • 55% more likely to enroll in college • 52% less likely than their peers to skip a day of school • 78% more likely to volunteer regularly in their communities • 46% less likely than their peers to use illegal drugs The goal of this project is to support Maryland MENTOR’s efforts to ensure that Maryland’s young people have access to a quality mentoring relationship. This VISTA will work to build capacity by evaluating and building on existing organizational communications infrastructure to increase Maryland MENTOR’s impact. The VISTA will evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of our existing systems and digital communications to the statewide mentoring field. They will increase awareness of Maryland MENTOR resources, services, events, and trainings to the statewide mentoring field. Major functions will include: • Cultivating a network of Youth Development Professionals through management of our online practitioner led community • Create an online crowdsourcing campaign • Participate on Annual Conference Marketing Committee • Review and update Maryland MENTOR Website for better navigation • Create email database of local partners to share Maryland MENTOR events • Maintain Maryland MENTOR social media and newsletters, increasing the engagement of our followers/subscribers
