Fundraising and Communications VISTA

Help us serve more people affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, incarceration and HIV/AIDS! Founded in 1961 as New Jersey Association on Correction (NJAC), we are changing our name and expanding communications and individual, corporate and foundation fundraising efforts. We created the new position of Director of Development and Communications in January; join his team to take our fundraising events to the next level, launch our new name and logo, implement our new donor database and expand awareness of our organization through social media, e-newsletters, presence at networking meetings and expanded media outreach. A Community Action Agency based in Trenton, NJAC is an $8 million/year nonprofit with services in seven counties. We work to reduce poverty by supporting our clients with counseling, case management, job training, legal advocacy, emergency shelter and transitional housing as they move into the next phase of their lives. You will help NJAC reduce its dependence on government funding, benefitting the 20,000+ people living in poverty who we serve each year. Increased revenue will support needed improvements in facilities and expanded staff to serve more people and offer higher quality services. In addition to fundraising and communications, you will assist in the implementation of a community assessment which gathers data every three years. The assessment will enable NJAC to better serve its communities with services targeted to current needs. We are looking for someone who is passionate about our client population, and is a good writer, computer literate (word processing and internet research basics), well organized, a good proofreader, a people person and comfortable speaking in public meetings. We will train you in all tasks. Tasks include writing social media posts and grant proposals, funding-related research, organizing event logistics, representing NJAC at networking events and donor data entry.
