Mentor Program Development Specialist

Part of an eight-member VISTA team supported by a VISTA Leader. This relationship-centered VISTA project with the Communities In Schools of Renton (CISR) will help build capacity to support students and families who face daily economic challenges. The project will focus on the Renton Innovation Zone Partnership (RIZP) target schools. The RIZP includes four elementary schools with high poverty and low academic achievement, and serve students from diverse backgrounds in Renton and the adjacent West Hill/Skyway community. The VISTA’s work will help break the cycle of poverty through improved educational engagement and support. By supporting strategies that increase community partnerships, resource development, and student mentoring, the VISTA will increase the capacity of CISR and the broader community to support students living in poverty in their educational and personal development. Renton has a population of 104,100 residents and is located on Lake Washington. The city has excellent parks for outdoor activities and outstanding access to public transportation to Seattle and other parts of the Seattle metropolitan area.
