Early Learning & Afterschool Program Development Specialist

Part of an eight-member VISTA team supported by a VISTA Leader. This VISTA project will help improve educational outcomes and assist the Renton School District (RSD) and other partners to build the system-wide capacity of early learning and out of school time providers in the Renton Innovation Zone (RIZ). The Renton Innovation Zone includes schools with high poverty and low academic achievement, and serve students from diverse backgrounds in this community just south of Seattle, WA. The VISTA’s work will help break the cycle of poverty through improved educational engagement and academic achievement outcomes among RIZ students – which will help youth become more likely to overcome poverty. By supporting strategies that increase parent and community member knowledge of healthy childhood development, the VISTA will increase the capacity of the broader community to support children and youth in their learning and development.
