| Member Duties : * Oversee the visits to campus of local K-12 partners.
* Support and enhance current STEM programs in the local elementary schools, and on-campus STEM events designed for elementary youth.
* Play a key role in managing Bates’ relationship with Lewiston Middle School, our “adopt-a-school” partner, with a focus on helping to bring the resources of the College—faculty and students from community-engaged learning courses, STEM student clubs, facilities—to bear on LMS science activities.
* Work with Bates faculty and staff to help design a “near-peer” mentor program, in which first-generation students and students of color from Bates act as mentors for high school students interested in STEM.
* Engage with the residence life staff as well as Bates student clubs and organizations through the Student Affairs Office to maximize the engagement of the student body in aspirations efforts.
