Variety Boys and Girls Club Development Specialist VISTA

The mission of the Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens (VBGCQ) is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Club was established more than 60 years ago in Long Island City and continues to carry out our tradition of uplifting and empowering young people. We specialize in providing youth with innovative and diverse programming and pride ourselves in being the largest youth development organization in Western Queens, serving over 4,000 young people each year. Today, our 30,000 square foot Club includes an indoor swimming pool, makerspace lab, computer room, teaching kitchen, gym, auditorium, art studio, dance studio, film studio, and outdoor playground. Whether a child dreams of becoming a ballerina, an astronaut, or an all-star athlete, our after-school, summer camp, sport and weekend programs support them in realizing their aspirations. The Development Specialist will be focused on creating systems that will allow VBGCQ to continue the amazing growth it has had over the past three years. Our VISTA will work with the Director of Education & Impact and the Development Team on two main objectives: 1) diversifying funding streams through expanding and strengthening partnerships and 2) developing and implementing systems for funding applications and grant management. Our VISTA will gain experience in non-profit management, non-profit development, and organizational change. She or he will have the opportunity to create meaningful, long-lasting change at VBGCQ while working closely with the Executive Team, Development Team, and the Board. No prior professional work experience required, just a desire to learn! Professional development and training will be continuously offered through the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development and Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Check out www.bgcqueens.org or email jobs@bgcqueens.org for more information!

Member Duties : The Development Specialist Vista at Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens will play a key role in the Development Team at the Club. The VISTA will first work to create systems for grant research, grant applications, and grant management for the Club. These systems will allow VBGCQ to seek out and secure more funding and will help to ensure the future growth of the Club as we seek to serve more youth. The Development Specialist VISTA will then put these systems to work by researching grant opportunities for the Club, including possible partnerships with other community based organizations, and then assisting in writing grant applications as a part of the Development Team. For any current grants or new grants, the Development Specialist will be tasked with tracking all deliverables and compliance for the Club to be in good standing with our funders. The VISTA will create program reports, funder updates, and work with other departments in the organization to submit information
