ACAM Resiliency FIRST Research & Development OneStar VISTA
Alliance of Community Assistance Ministries (ACAM) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and a nationally-recognized management support organization (MSO) that strengthens and convenes a network of faith-based nonprofits serving low-income families. The 200,000 individuals served each year by ACAM’s Network are among the most vulnerable in our region. 99% of clients are in the spectrum of low-income with 75% in the lowest bracket, "extremely low-income. ACAM is leading the network toward an even bolder vision of community transformation by refining our understanding of the specific interventions (Self-sufficiency assessments, case management, coordinated service path, and service integration and evaluation) that are the tipping point in building a family's ability to weather crisis, thereby reducing their need for ongoing intervention. This is the Resiliency FIRST Model (RFM). The RFM project’s foundational goal is providing families with a continuum of supportive services, all the while encouraging and empowering people to work toward a future better than the present. ACAM’s network includes experts in homelessness prevention, public benefits access, domestic violence, nutrition, economic development, social work, basic needs and nonprofit training, and poverty research - creating a unique mix of capabilities to address today's interrelated development and poverty alleviation challenges. The Resiliency First Research and Program Development VISTA will research, develop, and test the RFM to better help communities build economic resiliency.
