Sustainability Outreach Coordinator
The Sustainability Outreach Coordinator participates in a yearlong term of service (1,700 hours) with the Tennessee Environmental Council, whose mission is to provide education and advocacy that improves Tennessee's environment, communities, and public health. The member assists the Council by providing capacity-building services for the Sustainable Tennessee program, advancing recycling, composting, and ecological restoration statewide. As Tennessee’s landfills reach capacity within the next decade, the need for widespread public education on composting and recycling has become imperative to our well-being. The coordinator will develop, plan, and implement projects that engage Tennessee residents in practices of curbside recycling, backyard composting, and watershed restoration. The Hands On Nashville AmeriCorps Program engages civic-minded individuals in yearlong terms of public service. AmeriCorps members are part of a 17-person cohort that receive skills training, professional development, and networking opportunities through a partnership between HON and participating AmeriCorps Program agencies. HON does not discriminate based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, or other factors which deny the essential humanity of all people.
