Watershed Education and Renewal Coordinator
The Watershed Education and Renewal Coordinator participates in a yearlong term of service (1,700 hours) supporting the stream conservation goals of the Richland Creek Watershed Alliance (RCWA), which protects and improves the Richland Creek ecosystem, and promotes healthy waterways and clean water. This member will help expand RCWA’s capacity and program impact through communications, education, collaboration and technology. The member’s passion for the environment, creativity, skills and field experience are applied through the planning and implementation of activities within RCWA’s Watershed Education and Riparian Renewal programs. The service is diverse and includes outdoor field work that require lifting, bending, and twisting, and may take place in a variety of weather conditions. The member’s ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team are appreciated and utilized. Ability to use various social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) is required. Riparian restoration field experience and technological skills with Word Press, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are preferred. ArcGIS experience is a plus. The Hands On Nashville AmeriCorps Program engages civic-minded individuals in yearlong terms of public service. AmeriCorps members are part of a 17-person cohort that receive skills training, professional development, and networking opportunities through a partnership between HON and participating AmeriCorps Program agencies. Member Duties : - Represents RCWA at educational and outreach events, including setup and teardown. - Recruits and manages volunteers for agency events and initiatives. - Plans and implements activities for RCWA’s watershed education program, utilizing a digital platform. - Creates content for social media messaging, website updates, blog entries, and monthly e-newsletters. - Assists with planning and implementation of habitat-renewal projects during the cool season, which includes removing invasive species and planting native trees and understory. - Assists with fundraising and grants for the Riparian Renewal program (not to exceed 10% of service hours).
