Streams Restoration Coordinator
The Streams Restoration Coordinator (Coordinator) participates in a yearlong term of AmeriCorps service (1,700 hours) to support the Cumberland River Compact's (CRC) mission to enhance the health and enjoyment of the Cumberland River and its tributaries through education, collaboration, and action. The Coordinator works on the Clean Streams Initiative to reduce pollution in our waterways through volunteer-led cleanups and restoration. The Coordinator also supports the expansion of CRC’s DePave program, which removes unneeded asphalt, such as parking lot material, and replaces it with green spaces. The Coordinator expands CRC’s capacity to conduct stream cleanups, manage and enroll Adopt-A-Stream groups, track and maintain rain gardens, and update water quality data and resources. The Coordinator works outdoors and in urban streams to evaluate potential cleanup and restoration sites. This service experience will strengthen the member’s volunteer management, program coordination, and scientific skills through outdoor service. The service member will interact with government, nonprofit, and corporate partners. Desired experience includes rain garden construction and maintenance and outdoor event planning and promotion. Required skills include Google Suite and Microsoft Office. Basic knowledge of GIS mapmaking and GPS principles are helpful. The ideal candidate values clean water and possesses the drive to achieve goals through volunteer recruitment, event management, and restoration. The Hands¿On¿Nashville AmeriCorps Program engages civic-minded individuals in yearlong terms of public service. AmeriCorps members are part of a 17-person cohort that receive skills training, professional development, and networking opportunities through a partnership between HON and participating AmeriCorps Program agencies.¿HON does not discriminate based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, or other factors which deny the essential humanity of all people.
