Environmental Education Coordinator

The Education Coordinator participates in a yearlong term of AmeriCorps service (1,700 hours) supporting Cumberland River Compact (CRC)’s Youth and Community Education programs, which serve 8,600 community members and 1,850 youth each year. Youth education programs include Creek Critters and school-based STEAM programs. The annual Waterfest provides environmental education to youth through a fun, free summer festival. These programs empower youth to take action in their own community to improve the environment. CRC achieves this goal by prioritizing outreach to at-need communities in Nashville and supporting schools with STEAM curriculums. This member also supports CRC’s primary community education program, River Talks, a lecture series that brings people together to learn about and to discuss important environmental issues and solutions in our region. An ideal candidate for this position will have a desire to change the lives of youth through environmental education. Experience teaching students is preferred, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Experience in marketing and event coordination is also a plus. This member will gain skills in education, marketing, event logistics, communication, and program management. CRC AmeriCorps members will interact with non-profits and companies to promote conservation and sustainability. Our staff is dedicated to supporting the professional growth of AmeriCorps members. The Hands On Nashville AmeriCorps Program engages civic-minded individuals in yearlong terms of public service. AmeriCorps members are part of a 17-person cohort that receive skills training, professional development, and networking opportunities through a partnership between HON and participating AmeriCorps Program agencies. HON does not discriminate based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, or other factors which deny the essential humanity of all people.
