Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator

The Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator (Coordinator) participates in a yearlong term of AmeriCorps service (1,700 hours) supporting the Cumberland River Compact (CRC), its mission, and its work in Nashville and throughout the Cumberland River Basin. CRC offers a variety of volunteer, engagement, and educational opportunities throughout the year that promote knowledge and awareness about clean water resources. The Coordinator strengthens the capacity of CRC’s communication efforts through dedicated storytelling and documentation of community events. The Coordinator organizes volunteer recruitment and communication, cross promotes partner initiatives, and increases the visibility of the Compact’s events and festivals. Members gain experience managing digital media campaigns, leading volunteers, and coordinating events. An ideal AmeriCorps candidate enjoys working with groups, being active outdoors, raising awareness about events or activities they are involved in, speaking in front of groups, and using social media/email to engage with the local community. Potential members should possess a strong work ethic, the ability to work well in teams, self motivation, resourcefulness, creativity, positive attitude, and charisma. This role will utilize skills such as social media, photography, content writing, volunteer management, and leadership to better connect CRC constituents to the work of the organization. The Hands On Nashville AmeriCorps Program engages civic-minded individuals in yearlong terms of public service. AmeriCorps members are part of a 17-person cohort that receive skills training, professional development, and networking opportunities through a partnership between HON and participating AmeriCorps Program agencies. HON does not discriminate based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, or other factors which deny the essential humanity of all people.
