M+MN STEM Program VISTA at STEMentors

The Makers + Mentors Network (MMN), a STEM initiative of Citizen Schools, in partnership with STEMentors, are joining forces to uplift STEM mentoring and maker-centered learning as essential tools to build a stronger, more diverse workforce. Our goal is to advance STEM mentoring and hands-on learning through innovative, cross-sector coalitions. STEMentors' coalition envisions equitable access to quality STEM mentoring opportunities, building empowerment and career success one student at a time. STEMentors does this by aligning and growing resources to support high-impact, mentor-led STEM learning opportunities at key points in the K-20 pipeline. The coalition will provide space for the community to troubleshoot challenges, celebrate successes, and combine resources to accomplish together what can be difficult for any one organization to do alone. As the MMN STEM Program VISTA at STEMentors, you will be responsible for increasing capacity of the STEMentors Silicon Valley organization by expanding and strengthening partnerships and coalition members, researching new streams of funding, proposing new ideas for student STEM engagement and helping us create a sustainable marketing strategy. You would be joining a small but might team of collaborative professionals in our Redwood City, CA office reporting to the STEMentors Executive Director. You will be joining a cohort of 10 other AmeriCorps VISTA members all of whom will be placed at organizations across the county! The is a unique opportunity to bridge the opportunity gap while building your skills and creating long lasting relationships both professionally and personally. Benefits include a living stipend of $24,912/year, a Segal Educational Award of $6,195 upon successful completion or end of year cash stipend of $1,800, healthcare coverage, child care subsidy, and a minimum of 60+ credit hours is required for most positions.
