STEM Program Development VISTA, Idaho STEM Action Center

The Idaho STEM Action Center (STEM AC) was created in 2015 because Idaho citizens are not entering the STEM pipeline fast enough to meet current and future Idaho workforce needs. Its goals are to coordinate and facilitate the implementation of STEM programs, align education and workforce needs, and increase awareness of STEM throughout Idaho. The organization is working with industry, government, educators, and students to develop new resources and support high-quality teacher professional-development opportunities. This will foster a STEM-educated workforce that ensures Idaho's continued economic prosperity."

Member Duties : Idaho is geographically large with six distinct educational regions, each with its own economic and workforce challenges. While many STEM programs and activities have made an impact within their own communities, they have often been isolated efforts. Idaho is a large, rural state, resources are limited, travel is difficult, and connectivity is poor in many communities. The Idaho STEM Action Center is looking for a STEM Program Development VISTA member who has a passion for community outreach, communication and program analysis. As our STEM Program Development VISTA, you will develop a statewide, interactive map of ecosystem partners, work with partners in academia, recruit additional partners, and facilitate regular meetings with all STEM ecosystem partners. Analysis of existing programs will also be a critical responsibility.
