Fund Development RISE VISTA - Reality Changers in San Diego

Reality Changers is a San Diego-based non-profit organization that transforms lives by providing youth from disadvantaged backgrounds with the academic support, financial assistance, and leadership training to become college graduates. We have three programs that guide students on their journey to college: 1) College Town prepares 250 low-income, high-potential 8th – 11th graders to be college-ready by 12th grade. These students often begin the program with GPAs below a 2.0, and therefore need a complex support system to become successful. 2) College Apps Academy guides 350 high-performing 12th graders through the entire college application process, from choosing the right college to getting accepted. 3) The Alumni Network helps over 2,000 program graduates adjust to college, develop professional connections, and form lifelong friendships. In support of our programs, Reality Changers is constantly developing and implementing plans to expand and diversify our funding. We accomplish this through a combination of several strategies, a few of which include: • Building and sustaining relationships with other local foundations • Developing stronger ties to local corporations as well as to small businesses • Improving and innovating on our special events in order to bring in more revenue • Expanding our individual donor cultivation activities • Implementing and supporting up-to-date donor management systems. This effort is led by our Advancement department which brings together 3 key functions (fundraising, external communications, and events) to enable Reality Changers to achieve its annual fund development goal.
