CoF Library Services Coordinator VISTA

The Noel Wien Library seeks to provide anti-poverty programming that alleviates poverty by providing quality educational, employment, social service opportunities to low-income community members of all ages. The library is a natural community hub for individuals struggling financially. This makes the library an ideal location for people to access the resources they need to escape poverty. The first year of this project identified that to best provide these resources, the library needs to connect its patrons with local social service organizations, provide increased literacy opportunities, and assist in job readiness programming. This second year of the project will explore building the capacity to implement such programs. The VISTA will develop, plan, and implement programming that maximizes the library’s ability to provide informational, educational, recreational, and research needs of the community. The FNSB seeks to break the cycle of poverty by providing increased educational and economic opportunities to all citizens. The library further seeks to provide low-income pre-K, teens, seniors, and job seekers with additional literacy programming and access to resources. The VISTA member will help to develop these programs. This is a volunteer service position with a living allowance of $1,333 per month and an annual education award of $6095 or cash stipend of $1,800.
