CoF Permanent Housing Project Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
The primary goal of Fairbanks Rescue Mission (FRM) Joshua Community project will be to create safe, sober, Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) for people experiencing homelessness in Fairbanks, AK. Adding a PSH project to the FRM’s other anti-poverty programming will allow the FRM to better serve the most vulnerable members of the community. The VISTA member will research evidence-based best practices for recovery housing and PSH. The Joshua Community Project VISTA will work with the Site Supervisor to develop policies and procedures for the project based upon the best practices. To ensure sustainability of the Joshua Community project, the VISTA member will also help the FRM build capacity. This is a volunteer service position with a living allowance of $1,333 per month and an annual education award of $6095 or cash stipend of $1,800.

Member Duties : The VISTA will help create an effective permanent housing option for vulnerable citizens. Activities will include: • Research evidence-based best practices for recovery housing • Recommend best practices to the Site Supervisor • Evaluate current Joshua Community project status to fully understand the mission, scope, and history of the project • Examine the FRM’s other anti-poverty programs to identify internal supports available to the project • Assess other local recovery housing programs to clarify the niche of services the Joshua Community project will provide and ensure there is not a duplication of services • Identify potential collaboration opportunities with other local anti-poverty programs • Engage other key local stakeholders to bring additional anti-poverty and anti-opioid services to the project • Assist in volunteer recruitment • Assist with grant writing • Produce a funding plan for the Joshua Community project
