'19-'20 Foundational Community Supports VISTA
 
 
 
The Foundational Community Supports (FCS) Program Developer VISTA will work in a team environment to roll out this exciting new offering to the community. FCS is a recently unveiled demonstration project offered by Olympic Community Health that provides housing and employment support services to Medicaid-eligible individuals. FCS practices housing-first methodology, which is the best medical and financial solution for homelessness and has been proven effective in Europe, Canada, and locations across the US. Housing and employment are the two most critical factors to recovery from homelessness. This FCS intensive case management service helps clients acquire and maintain housing and employment on their journey toward reintegration within the community. With the FCS program, Serenity House provides supportive services not only internally but also to the community at large. At this point in time, the FCS program is only just beginning to take off and we need a dedicated individual to build the frameworks for future continued success. The VISTA will be a member of United Way of Thurston County’s VISTA team, made up of 19 other VISTA members. The UWTC VISTA team is supported by the VISTA Leader, who coordinates professional development opportunities, provides individualized support and resources, and supports the program’s success.

Member Duties : The FCS Program Developer VISTA will be front and center building streamlined processes and policies for all support services provided. They will build the framework for conducting eligibility assessments and billing for case management services. The VISTA will also reach out to the community to build relationships with local service providers and seek out new resources to strengthen and support the FCS program. Finally, the VISTA will help generate and maintain an organizational database tracking eligibility, offerings, authorizations, denials, successes or lack thereof. The purpose is to create a strong foundation for this program, building the capacity to fight poverty through housing and employment services for years to come.
