Affordable Housing Leader

Three VISTA members will employ and hone their research, report writing, and community engagement skills to build new programs and teams equipped to reduce poverty rates in the City of Cincinnati. A cross-departmental approach including City Planning, Health, and Economic Development departments will encourage VISTAs to develop creative approaches to deep-rooted issues. They will also gain insight to a range of municipal governance functions as well as local non-profit and community organization networks. This position will be based in the Department of City Planning with a focus on affordable housing. In Year Two, the Affordable Housing VISTA member will assess the current housing inventory in the Walnut Hills neighborhood, collect housing data using the Year One VISTA’s methodology, and refine that methodology as needed to maintain both accuracy and replicability. The Year Two VISTA will also create and maintain relationships with key Walnut Hills community and City stakeholders, including residents, business owners, property owners, and Walnut Hills Area Council (WHAC) leadership.
