CoF NSCF Outreach Summer Associate
 
 
 
The North Star Community Foundation Summer Associate will assist NSCF executive director to create social media campaigns, assist in funding and resource proposals and coordinate activities for member projects that promote philanthropy and strengthen the community through public service. Coordination activities include promoting awareness of projects working with the homeless, preserving access to drinking water, assisting with food and toy drives for needy families, and facilitating Arctic Alliance for People discussions about essential human services. The Summer Associate will assist with social media, grant writing, volunteer recruitment, and other activities as required to improve program sustainability and collaboration among NSCF programs. Summer Associates are an AmeriCorps volunteer program. Summer Associates in Fairbanks receive a monthly living allowance of $1,358 and an education award of $1,289.95 or a stipend of $345.80 for completing all 10 weeks.

Member Duties : The North Star Community Foundation Summer Associate will promote the foundation’s anti-poverty programs. Activities will include: • Assist the Executive Director, initiate social media postings, community dialogs, and forums that garner positive attention for projects • Assist in revising a strategy for short-term (6 months) and long-term (5 years) funding • Receive training on solicitations for donations in labor, materials and money • Help initiate funding strategy • Attend meetings of the Arctic Alliance for People and member project discussions to listen and discover common needs being addressed in each project • Assist the executive director in drafting messages that can positively influence attitudes and behaviors that strengthen support for essential services • Meet and discuss with stakeholders the impacts that services bring • Assessing volunteer requirements of member programs • Develop volunteer recruitment strategies for member programs
