*AmeriCorps VISTA w. G. Gallatin United Way - KidsLINK

Founded in 1978, Greater Gallatin United Way’s (GGUW) mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our communities. We accomplish this mission by identifying priority needs, forming innovative partnerships, finding new solutions to old problems, securing resources, and inspiring individuals to join the fight against our communities’ most daunting challenges. GGUW envisions local communities where all individuals and families achieve their full potential through education, income stability, and healthy living. This project will help alleviate poverty because it will provide more safe places for kids to go when their parents are working. GGUW kidsLINK Afterschool programs provide nearly 200,000 slots of child care per year for more than 2,600 children with more than 1,200 children using the program every day. Out-of-school time programs allow 4,700+ parents to work full days and not have to worry about leaving work early to take care of their kids. These parents collectively are able to earn $9.8 million more because they are able to work a full day. GGUW has provided more than $493,000 in scholarship support for children whose parents cannot afford to pay for the programs. The primary purpose of this AmeriCorps VISTA project is to increase the sustainability and quality of Greater Gallatin United Way’s (GGUW) 32 kidsLINK Afterschool programs in southwest Montana.
