2019-2020 Community Outreach Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
The mission of the Spanish Coalition for Housing (SCH) is to provide comprehensive counseling, education and housing resources necessary for Latinos and other low-to-moderate income families in the Chicagoland area, develop competence and responsibility in meeting their financial and housing needs, and to advocate for and proactively promote additional resources for them. Spanish Coalition for Housing (SCH) is a non-profit community 501(c)(3) with over 45 years of experience providing bilingual counseling and education to low-to-moderate income households to meet their financial and housing needs. According to HUD data 9902 - for federal fiscal year 2018: 88% of SCH households served are below 80% Area Median Income. This VISTA position has two long-term goals: 1. Develop a framework for Data Management and Usage that compliments new Partnership Relationship Management. 2. Develop knowledge management solution that centralizes and better shares outreach plan, calendar and advance capabilities and best practices associated with communication tools. As this is the first year of the project, this VISTA will conduct thorough research and analysis on these topics, and implement relevant pilot programming. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive expert training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties : Q1 (Aug.2019 - Nov. 2019): VISTA will become acclimated with SCH team, programs and service areas. VISTA will identify current outreach strategy used across agency and identify strengths and challenges. Q2 (Dec. 2019 – Feb. 2020): VISTA will become familiar with current agency partnerships and identify community partnerships that have not been established. Q3 (March. 2020 – May 2020) – VISTA will enhance SCH’s ability to develop tools that improve contact data collection methods and outreach and centralize them on a shared calendar. Q4 (June 2020 – August 2020) Develop a basic dashboard (data visualization tool) for staff that lays out key dates for each program area.
