Campus Compact VISTA - University of Wisconsin Green Bay, WI

This VISTA position aims to fight-poverty in the Brown county region by developing and expanding support for college students, particularly low income and first-generation college students with care responsibilities and heavy employment burdens through a second-year and transfer program. The VISTA will pilot a program for second-year and transfer students and assist with creation of a Civic Engagement Center with an explicit focus on equity. Building on an existing UWGB program, GPS, which focuses on first-year students, this VISTA position will help to create a sustainable program for second-year and transfer students rooted in civic engagement and community-based learning. This program will meld cohort building and culturally relevant pedagogy with access to mentors and service-opportunities in Brown County. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $472.22 in Brown County, WI. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide conference attendance, and other professional development opportunities. The AmeriCorps VISTA serving at University of Wisconsin will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps. Serving as a part of the Campus Compact VISTA corps provides VISTAs the chance to connect with corps members throughout multiple states, to create a network of support, and to share resources. Campus Compact supports the professional and personal growth of VISTA members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings throughout their service year.
