Campus Compact VISTA - University of Nebraska Omaha, NE

The VISTA project will increase engagement of high poverty P-12 schools and University of Nebraska (UNO) departments using service-learning pedagogy to address poverty in Omaha, increase awareness of needs identified by individuals and groups currently experiencing poverty as previously collected from community, and establish collaborative relationships with neighborhood organizations, governmental organizations, small businesses and/or nonprofit organizations in proximity to high poverty schools. Through the VISTA's project, we expect to benefit 500 students and community members living and receiving education in high poverty areas. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $472.22 in Douglas County, NE. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide a public transportation pass and conference attendance. The AmeriCorps VISTA serving at the UNO will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps. Serving as a part of the Campus Compact VISTA corps provides VISTAs the chance to connect with corps members throughout multiple states, to create a network of support, and to share resources. Campus Compact supports the professional and personal growth of VISTA members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings throughout their service year. If you would like to learn more about serving with Campus Compact VISTA, please email our VISTA Leaders at ccsnevista@compact.org or give us a call at 617-553-5536.
