The goal of this project is to support strategic growth and capacity building for the Wellesley College (Wellesley) and Framingham Public Schools (FPS) Out of School Time program. Project includes, STEM education programs that bridge elementary and middle school students, forging a pathway for Wellesley students interested in working in FPS, and the expansion of partnership of the Andover Breadloaf writing program to Framingham. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $791.70 in Middlesex County, MA. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide access to professional development opportunities and conference attendance. The AmeriCorps VISTA serving at Wellesley will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps. Serving as a part of the Campus Compact VISTA corps provides VISTAs the chance to connect with corps members throughout multiple states, to create a network of support, and to share resources. Campus Compact supports the professional and personal growth of VISTA members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings throughout their service year. Member Duties : The VISTA will support the Wellesley College and Framingham Public Schools (FPS) partnership team to build program visibility, support recruit, train new student volunteers, and provide support to current volunteers focusing on the Framingham Public Schools partnership. Reporting to the Program Director for Civic Engagement, the VISTA will play a key role in building capacity for the partnership with Framingham Public Schools. The VISTA will join the Civic Engagement team and Career Education during a time of growth and innovation, having the opportunity to contribute as a thought partner in expanding this program. Activities include: 1) Recruit, plan and execute training for Wellesley volunteers going to FPS. 2) Work with FPS to identify the number of volunteers and sites, and to build a bridge between elementary, middle, and high schools. 3) Work with FPS families to create program buy-in. 4) Provide support to Wellesely volunteers through structured reflections.
