WEEDC Program and Outreach Associate

The VISTA will be responsible for promoting awareness of current community economic development efforts through social media, website maintenance and print marketing and will support coordination of community events to increase involvement. The VISTA member will play a strong role in building and maintaining partnerships and communication with other nonprofits in the region in order to move forward several collaborative projects. The VISTA member will also have the opportunity to support fund development efforts through grant research, writing and volunteer engagement. The purpose of the West End Economic Development Corporation (WEEDC) is to create and encourage an inviting, pro-business environment, integrated with our independent spirit and friendly culture while capitalizing on our natural and historic resources. We will continue advancing our mission through three overarching goals: 1) Ensure that the West End has the resources needed to support business expansion, formation and attraction; 2) Provide a regulatory environment and the infrastructure to support culturally compatible business development; and 3) build on the strong sense of identity in the West End to become a magnet for diverse talent on the Western Slope of Colorado. This is an excellent time, in an incredibly beautiful location in western Montrose County, to make a difference. Significant progress has been made over the past few years to redevelop and stabilize a region undergoing dramatic change, and the momentum is in our favor with excellent support from many strategic partnerships. Collaboration between communities has never been stronger, with a solid sense of purpose in charting our own course. Programs, policies, infrastructure and training are being developed to prepare for this region’s charge into the future. Tourism, small scale manufacturing, affordable housing and agriculture development are only a few of the programs being developed to ensure a sustainable future.
