*MTCC Summer VISTA- ExplorationWorks

ExplorationWorks is located in Helena, Montana. ExplorationWorks Science Center's mission is to ignite a lifelong love for science to enrich Montana's future. ExplorationWorks offers hands-on exhibits, programs, workshops, classes, and camps for kids and families, as well as school and community groups. ExplorationWorks addresses community needs by helping kids, families, and adults transform book-based knowledge into hands-on, real-life experiences. Through collaborations with organizations that reach and serve at-risk and low-income populations, ExWorks goal is to be accessible, welcoming and inclusive of all people. The goal of the Summer Associate project is to inspire youth to explore STEM careers and allow them to break the cycle of poverty by eventually getting a job in the STEM fields.

Member Duties : The Summer Associate will deliver hands-on STEM programming to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds; track student interest in STEM careers as the summer progresses; and increase the visibility of ExWorks by attending community events and partnering with community organizations in delivering hands-on STEM programming. Furthermore, the Summer Associate will work to promote the Family Access Membership program, which helps increase access to the science center for economically disadvantaged families, with the goal of increasing membership in the program by 10 families; actively promote and recruit for volunteer opportunities at ExplorationWorks; and provide support for the current volunteer program.
