Bridge Emergency Shelter Program Development Coordinator

The Bridge is a well-established and respected organization within the community. Our shelter has provided almost 50,000 bed nights in our 13 year history and the Day Labor Program annually accounts for over $ 110,000 that enters the local economy. This fall, for the first time, we will be able to house formerly homeless persons in our supportive transitional apartments. The Bridge is the only low-barrier shelter in the five counties of Southwest Colorado in that we do not exclude felons, sexual offenders, or people who have been drinking or drugging prior to entrance. Therefore, we serve only adult men and women. Our mission is to promote independence and self-sufficiency for adult men and women in Montezuma County by providing seasonal emergency shelter, informal case management, and job training and employment opportunities. Over the years, the Bridge Shelter has helped many folks become more sustainable and lead more self-sufficient lives. We have helped individuals enter substance treatment programs, find jobs or reconnect with family. We have assisted our guests in finding housing. We have encouraged our guests to utilize the many supportive services in the community that help them stabilize their lives. We celebrate the reality that many people make significant progress in improving their lives by participating in an organization that sets attainable standards for behavior and does this with care and compassion. Cortez is a community of under 10,000 persons but is the economic hub of the Four Corners region in Southwest Colorado. The community is within easy driving distances to National Parks, National Monuments and rich in archeological history.
