GFC Communication, Engagement, & Food Security Coordinator

The Good Food Collective (GFC) was created in May 2018 to reinstate an intact regional food system in Southwestern Colorado, with the belief that, through food, we can create a vibrant economy, build meaningful employment, steward our environment and feed our entire community. Currently, GFC’s work is focused on four major initiatives – Regional Convening & Collaboration, Agricultural Support, Marketplace Development, and Food Security The GFC is based in Durango, Colorado – a magical town of 17K people built on the banks of the Animas River at the junction of the Great Basin Desert and the San Juan Mountains. Durango is a fun and engaged community with over 100 miles of mountain bike, skiing, and hiking trails accessible from your back door, a happening downtown and myriad arts, cultural, and educational opportunities. In addition to our home base, the GFC serves the surrounding regions of La Plata, Montezuma, and Archuleta Counties. This position couples life in one of the most beautiful places in the world with deeply meaningful work. The position’s communications elements aim to help us transition from a start-up fledgling to a fully-functional organization. In addition to posting content, you will work with GFC staff to build out our communications strategy and platforms. Lastly, you have the exciting opportunity to help us to expand the scale of our Farms to Food Banks program which connects locally grown, farm-fresh produce with food-insecure populations at a variety of access points (school, pop-up farm stands, and food banks). This includes a roll-out of Fresh Food Connect, a web app-enabled, e-bike-trike supported backyard garden produce pick up and distribution service, and the expansion of our Community Gleaning program into Montezuma County. You will work directly with the GFC Director who LOVES supporting and coaching folks as they develop their skills and personal growth.
