Center for Independence Marketing Associate

Located in Grand Junction, Colorado, Center for Independence (CFI) began as the Helen Campbell Center for the Blind, recognizing the need for and offering skills in survival and independent living for people with visual impairments. Services were expanded to encompass and acknowledge the needs of people with all types of disabilities. The Center now serves 12 counties within 40,000 square miles on the Western Slope of Colorado serving people with disabilities; the majority of whom live in Mesa County. CFI is one of 340 Centers for Independent Living (CIL) in the United States. The foundation of CIL Services is the peer relationship – people with disabilities assisting other people with disabilities as role models, mentors, and partners. Each Center is unique because it offers services based upon the particular needs of its community. At the same time, Centers are alike in that they all offer these services: Information and Referral, Peer Support, Individual and Community Advocacy, Youth and Nursing Home Transitions and Independent Living Skills Training. CFI’s Mission is to work to promote community solutions and to empower individuals with disabilities to live independently. We deliver services to community members from all walks of life, young and old, rich and poor. The common dominator is that they all have a disability. We do not charge for our services so public recognition or our work is necessary for our operational support. If you want to be part of an organization that makes a difference in the lives of individuals and the community, CFI is your place. We are humbled by the strength and character of people leading ordinary lives with extraordinary courage and resilience. Help us tell their stories.
