The biweekly living allowance for this position is $542.22. In addition to the benefits listed above, the host site will provide the following: $200 a month in food vouchers (on-campus meal plan) and professional development opportunities. The AmeriCorps VISTA serving at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps. Serving as a part of the Campus Compact VISTA corps provides VISTAs the chance to connect with corps members throughout multiple states, to create a network of support, and to share resources. Campus Compact supports the professional and personal growth of VISTA members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings throughout their service year

Member Duties : The Campus Compact VISTA at NEIU will build capacity for programs that serve low-income students. This includes the student food pantry, the campus power closet (a program that provides interview/work attire to students facing financial hardship) and programs that help low-income students prepare for employment opportunities. Activities include designing volunteer recruitment and training strategies, creating systems for data collection and assessment, researching student needs, and connecting with community organizations and resources.
